If you've ever struggled with building your online brand as a writer, this class will introduce you to several important steps in getting started, time management, and your best platform.

When developing a digital marketing plan, you need to incorporate a plan to reach your target market, decide what you can offer them, and discover where they are hanging out.

Not All Brands Are The Same

Take the fast-food industry. There are many which serve the same type of food but it's all packaged differently. Fans of each of those brands would say their fast-food restaurant is the best, simply based on their tastes, location, price, availability, and so on.

Not all fast-food restaurants are the same though they may serve similar products.

This is what many entrepreneurs miss.

All writers and authors need to market themselves but each one needs to distinctively brand themselves.

It's as easy as recognizing a McDonald's chain from a Wendy's chain.

You know what you can get at each. You know them by their branding, products, services, all different yet similar.

What Sets You Apart

One of the many aspects of creating a brand is developing your target market. Get to know who your readers are. What do they expect? What are they looking for? What's their age, motivation? Where are they usually hanging out online?

What can you offer them that similar writers aren't?

What motivates them to purchase your books or products?

Building a Brand

If you are beginning your career or you've been writing for some time and need to refresh your brand, we will be discussing ways to do just that.

Like construction, the aspects of building anything begin with a good foundation.

Not only do you take into consideration who your target market is, a good brand includes personal preferences.

You are connecting and creating relationships built on trust. To do that, you have to be honest with yourself.

Stop trying to do what everyone else is doing and find out what works best for you, your time, what you're comfortable with, and what feels natural.

Social Media Overload

Having a platform on social media can be a great way to connect with other like-minded individuals but it can also create tension and stress.

Like we experienced during 2020, social media became a war zone.

Creating a brand and marketing strategy isn't about following the trends. You need to find a safe place where you want to share with your target audience.

It can sometimes take a while before you find that perfect platform but don't give up. Don't do anything you feel uncomfortable with, take your time to discover what works best for you.

Time Management

This is one area where many struggle to find a good working balance. There are many tools available to help you create, schedule, and manage how you choose to interact with your audience.

There are free and paid options available. We will be giving you some ideas during the 2021 Southern Christian Writer's Conference.

Once you develop a brand, which includes colors, fonts, and logos with digital marketing, create a schedule for posting, the next step is deciding where to post.

Developing Community

Marketing isn't so much about making sales as it is creating a relationship with consumers.

Writers, more than any other industry, can have some of the most faithful followers. You want to develop a community that gives them a voice, shares what you're doing, and connects others who potentially want to read what you're writing.

When you create a platform for your audience, go back to time management and include time to interact with them. Follow up on comments and gain insight for lead magnets.

Developing a solid sales funnel that doesn't seem like one, gives your target market something valuable in return for their email.

This will keep the conversation going.

Brainstorming for Ideas

Most creative artists don't want to waste their creative energy trying to market themselves or their work, they just want to create.

But the end goal is putting your products into someone's hands and that requires marketing.

The best question to ask yourself to get started is... "What is my goal?"

There may be layers of why you are doing what you're doing but getting underneath all those layers to your goal is key.

Digital Marketing 101

Maybe you think you've got your marketing plan squared away but if you believe you could do better, learn to manage your time, focus more on your target market, or need someone to bounce ideas off, this conference could be for you.

This virtual event will introduce you to the topics we've mentioned above plus answer questions you may have.
