5 Favorite Resources for Working Remotely

covid-19 remote resources Mar 23, 2020

Many of us are practicing social distancing or directed quarantine due to the Coronavirus/Covid-19. The quick paradigm shift of working from home can be challenging. However, the tools to transition from office to home should be easy to implement for your team and simple for your vendors and customers to access.

Two months ago, I begin working from my very own office. I spent 8 years working remotely. Here are 5 of my favorite tools that were foundational for me or my clients to work remotely.

1. Zoom

I have used Zoom for online meetings, webinars, and MasterMind groups for years. The app is easy to set up on a computer and create and send out invitations for meetings. It is also easy for the people you invited to attend the meetings from their phone or computer.

Zoom has the option for muting audio or video. There is a free version and several options for businesses and organizations with many upgrades for webinars and large online events.

2. Bidsketch

Bidsketch is an online software used to create professional business proposals for prospective clients in minutes. I can meet with prospective clients and quickly put together a proposal or a contract that I can send to them via email to review or print to present in person (per Covid-19). When prospects click to view the document, I can see when and how long they viewed it. The prospect can use e-sign to quickly become my clients and start the onboarding  process.

3. Kajabi

I love Kajabi. It is the software that I have used to produce and sell online courses, training, and Mastermind groups in the past. I just recently moved my Mitzi Jane Media domain to Kajabi to serve as my website (this blog is on Kajabi). Now, I can manage everything from email marketing to online trainings in one place. Before Covid-19, I was preparing to offer both in person and online training beginning in April. My plans have shifted for the moment to offering online only.

I can update every function of my website without the assistance of a web designer. I do not recommend Kajabi over WordPress for my clients unless they are selling online conferencing or course. If you are doing online conferencing, Kajabi is intuitive to set up and loaded with marketing features and step by step tutorials to help you succeed.

Kajabi is moving into the e-commerce area, but I do not have experience using it for e-commerce in the way of setting up a retail store.

4. Shopify

Years ago, I helped a friend set up a shop on Shopify. It is a very easy platform to set up an online store and quickly start selling products. It is tied into Facebook for instantly promoting products and specials. Plus, you can set up a front page for your shop that looks like a website. All you have to do is point your domain to your shop home page and you have a website for your store, too.

5. LinkedIn

Professionals are networking online via LinkedIn.

If you do business B2B (Business to Business) or you are seeking employment or extra work during this time, you need to have a professional profile on LinkedIn.

Complete your profile, like you are creating a website resume for yourself. Remember, that your profile needs to be search engine optimized, so use terms that you want to be found for on LinkedIn.  Share not only your qualifications, but what skills you learned with each job and what key projects you led.

When employers or executives are looking on LinkedIn for assistance they are looking to see what leadership, value, and skills/services you can bring to their company. The first two areas, leadership and value, are what separates people and businesses online from their competitors.

Also, get involved in LinkedIn by posting and commenting on your peers posts. I have a course that I hope to add online in the next week. When it is completed I will post it here.
